Heitor Nagliati graduated in biochemistry from BYU-Idaho in 2022. During his undergraduate years, Heitor had his first experience with research while working with Dr. Stowell and Dr. Ward isolating CBD from Epidiolex®. This initial exposure sparked his passion for research.
In 2020, Heitor did an internship in environmental chemistry at Friends of the River Teton in Driggs, ID. There, he monitored the waters of the Teton River and its tributaries. His responsibilities included gathering and analyzing data, as well as compiling reports on observed changes. During this internship, he learned a lot about chemical equilibria in freshwater systems and the importance of responsible farming.
In 2021, Heitor further expanded his skills through an internship in analytical chemistry and microfabrication at BYU under the guidance of Dr. Adam Woolley. Currently, in his second year of graduate studies, Heitor is an integral part of Dr. Woolley's laboratory. His research focuses on the prototyping of a microfluidic device capable of determining the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of antibiotics against specific bacterial strains. His work involves designing, developing, and fabricating microfluidic devices.
