Richard Carson earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology, and a PhD in Biochemistry from Brigham Young University. In graduate school, working with Dr. John C. Price, Richard applied kinetic proteomics in a mouse model to investigate the effects of calorie restriction on aging. He joined Dr. Ryan Kelly's lab as a post-doctoral research fellow in 2019, and hopes to eventually apply trace clinical sample omics methods to diagnose and treat age-related ailments such as cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, and cancer. Richard lives in Provo, Utah, with his wife and two children, and in his non-lab time enjoys reading, board games, and martial arts.
