Lab Personnel

Conner Nelson

Conner is a 4th year graduate student in the Stowers Lab. He is working on nickel oxide catalysts used in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane. In his spare time he likes to lift weights and spend time with his nieces and nephews.

Andrew Ralph

Andrew is a 3rd year graduate student in the Stowers Lab. He is working on synthesizing MOF thin films to convert to nanoparticles for partial oxidation reactions. In his spare time he likes to lift and think about electrochemistry.

Emmanuel Agbata

Emmanuel is from Anambra State, Nigeria. He studied for his undergraduate degree at the University of Benin, Benin-city in Nigeria, and has worked as process engineer in a manufacturing company in Lagos Nigeria, prior to starting his graduate program. He is a final year MS student who is interested in application of organic and inorganic based materials in catalysis, semiconductors and energy. He also likes to sing, travel and lift weights.

Ali Prue

Ali is an undergraduate in Chemistry, scheduled to graduate in April 2025. She has been in the Stowers group since March 2021 studying MOF thin films. She enjoys learning about materials, vacuums, and electron microscopy. Outside of chemistry, Ali enjoys lifting weights at the gym and cooking.

Callie Wallace

Callie is an undergraduate chemical engineering student from Houston, Texas. She started researching with Dr. Stowers in 2022. She is currently studying the tunability of Zinc-based MOFs. She enjoys performing experiments and problem solving to produce high surface area catalysts. Outside of the lab, Callie enjoys travelling, going dancing, and going to the gym.

Seth Hall

Seth Hall is an undergraduate chemical engineering student who has done past research with the University of Utah and Savannah River National Laboratory. He joined Dr. Stower's lab in 2022. Since then, he has helped to publish a paper on the characterization of a Cu/TiO2 based catalyst. He is currently working on a project to synthesize a catalyst to improve production of formaldehyde from methanol. He's from San Antonio and loves to snowboard and play guitar and lift.

Blake Butikofer

Blake is an undergraduate in Exercise Science and plans on attending medical school after graduation. He recently joined the Stowers group in November 2023 and is studying MOF thin films. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and playing sports.

Hans Anderson

September 17, 2020 04:22 PM
Hans is a 3rd year graduate student in the Stowers lab. He specializes in MOF thin films, MOF mediated synthesis, and in situ Heterogeneous catalytic mechanisms. When not growing crystals and troubleshooting the UHV chamber, Hans spends his time with his beloved wife, Valerie and two sons Gideon and Bruce.

Lindsey Alder

September 22, 2020 11:47 AM
Lindsey is currently a junior in Chemical Engineering at BYU, set to graduate in 2023. She has been with the Stowers lab since October 2018 and is currently on the AB hydrolysis project studying MOF structures and how they influence the activity of our catalysts. She enjoys research that utilizes characterization with X-ray diffraction. In her free time she enjoys painting, playing the piano, and trying new foods!

Maren Rawlins

September 22, 2020 11:57 AM
Maren is currently an undergrad research assistant working in catalysis and MOF chemistry. She is majoring in chemistry and this is her first year at BYU. Outside of the lab she loves reading, running, and going on hikes.
