Dr. Paul Joshua Hurst

Paul Joshua Hurst is originally from Laie, HI. He received his BS in Chemistry from Brigham Young University in 2018 and his PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine in 2023. His PhD advisor was Prof. Joe Patterson and his thesis was on reaction-driven soft matter self-assembly, including the development of polymerization-induced self-assembly system for ring-opening polymerization and the study of a transient hydrogelator by cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM). He was an NIH F32 postdoctoral scholar at Stanford in the lab of Prof. Robert Waymouth studying the structure and morphology of a coacervate polymeric gene delivery system by cryoEM and small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering. He lives in Provo with his wife and three children and enjoys spending time with his family, good food, playing classical music, and going on casual outings.

Hindrik is from Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from BYU-Idaho's Biochemistry Program. He is pursuing a career in drug delivery technology. His hobbies include capoeira, Magic: The Gathering, and hiking.

Hutch is from Abilene, Texas and is studying chemical engineering with plans to go to medical school and practice dermatology. He enjoys weightlifting, hikes, pickleball, and other outdoor activities, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Sam Jex is from Draper, Utah and is a Neuroscience major at Brigham Young University pursuing pre-medical studies, with interests in organic chemistry, polymer research, and medical applications. He plans to become a physician and enjoys skiing, working out, basketball, surfing, and the BYU Folk Dance team.

Mason Payne

Ethan Purcell

Ethan Purcell is a junior at BYU studying business while completing pre-medical coursework. Outside the classroom, he is a member of the BYU Swim & Dive team and enjoys hiking, camping, and surfing.

Amanda Runyan

Amanda is a junior studying Biology from Grand Junction, Colorado. She is a BYU Honors student and plans to attend dental school after graduation.
