His PhD advisor was Prof. Joe Patterson and his thesis was on reaction-driven soft matter self-assembly, including the development of polymerization-induced self-assembly system for ring-opening polymerization and the study of a transient hydrogelator by cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM). He was an NIH F32 postdoctoral scholar at Stanford in the lab of Prof. Robert Waymouth studying the structure and morphology of a coacervate polymeric gene delivery system by cryoEM and small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering. He lives in Provo with his wife and three children and enjoys spending time with his family, good food, playing classical music, and going on casual outings.
