Why Is This Important?

Acknowledging research sponsors is important for many reasons, including the following:

  • It expresses gratitude for institutional and technical support.
  • It fulfills contractual requirements of many funding agencies such as the NSF.
  • It aligns with standard research publication practices, enabling reviewers, publishers, and readers to evaluate potential sources of bias or support.
  • It helps quantify use of the Analytical Characterization Facility and justify continued support of the equipment and services necessary for your research.
